Significant Oil and Gas Discovery in Kohat E.L

By the grace of Allah, a joint venture of Oil and Gas Development Company Limited (OGDC), Mari Petroleum Company (MPCL) and Saif Energy (SEL) has discovered gas and condensate from Togh-01 well located in Kohat district of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa

Wajid-1 Well drilled in Sari South Block

Saif Energy Limited drilled 2nd exploratory well Wajid-1 to 2129m. The work program committed to government of Pakistan in Sari South Block is completed now.

Karim -1 well drilled in Khetwaro Block

Saif Energy Limited spuded 1st exploratory well (Karim -1) in Khetwaro Block. Well reached TD 1490m in Upper Goru Formation. All objective reservoirs were been penetrated and logged. Evaluation of wireline logs and MDT data indicated all potential reservoirs of Paleocene and Eocene are water wet. The well was declared plugged and abandoned as dry hole .

Additional 2D Seismic starts in Sari South Block

141 Line Km of additional 2D seismic have been acquired in Sari South Block. Based on this new seismic several new drillable leads have been identified.

3D Seismic Survey Starts in Khetwaro Block

204 Sq Km of 3D Seismic survey starts in Khetwaro Block, currently base camp has been established and line clearing is in progress

Shekhan -1 well drilled and discovered good quality of Gas

1st exploratory well (Shekhan -1) was successful drilled and tested in Kohat Block. Well flowed high quality 15 mmscfd gas form Cretaceous sands (Lumshiwal Formations). Saif Energy Limited has 10% interest in this block, which is being operated by OGDCL.

Government of Pakistan honours Kulsum Saifullah Khan, Chairperson– Saifullah Foundation

During a glittering ceremony held at the Aiwan I Sadr on the occasion of Pakistan Day, President Pervez Musharaf conferred the prestigious Hilal I Imtiaz civilian award upon Kulsum Saifullah Khan, Chairperson – Saifullah Foundation for Sustainable Development and the former Chairperson of the Saif Group for her meritorious and distinguished services to Pakistan in a career spanning the corporate, social and political spectrum.

An active worker and participant in the Pakistan Independence Movement and a Founding Member of the All Pakistan Women’s Association (APWA) since 1947, Kulsum Saifullah Khan served as an Advisor to the Founder of APWA Begum Raana Liaquat Ali Khan till 1951. She also served as the NWFP President of APWA from 1962 – 76. A founder member of the Sarhad Handicapped Children’s Association, Kulsum Saifullah Khan has also served as the NWFP President of the Craft Council and as a Member of the National Council for Population Planning.

From 1964 till 1990, Kulsum Saifullah Khan served as the Chairperson – Saif Group of Companies and was a Founder Member of the Women’s Chamber of Commerce & Industry (WCCI), a Founder Member of the Pakistan Association of Women Entrepreneurs and the NWFP President of the Pakistan Federation of Business and Professional Women’s Association.

Kulsum Saifullah Khan has also represented Pakistan as a Delegate at the Annual Session of the United Nations General Assembly, the United Nations International Council on Population and at the World Conference to Review & Appraise the Achievements of the United Nations Decade for Women: Equality, Development & Peace.

As a public representative, Kulsum Saifullah Khan has served as a Member of the Provincial Assembly (NWFP), Member of the Federal Council and as a Member of the National Assembly of Pakistan.

The first woman Federal Minister in Pakistan’s history, Kulsum Saifullah Khan served as the Federal Minister for Population Welfare and Organization & Methods (Management Services Division). She had previously served as the Minister of State for Commerce.

Saif Energy Limited Signs Khetwaro Exploration License

The Government of Pakistan granted an Exploration Licence over Block No. 2769-12 (Khetwaro) to Saif Energy Ltd. Simultaneously, Petroleum Concession Agreement was also executed between the Saif Energy Limited and the Government. In Khetwaro Block, Saif Energy Ltd intends to make an investment of over US$ 15.00 million to undertake 100 line kilometers of 2D seismic survey and drilling of three exploratory wells during the initial term of three years of Phase-I. The Exploration Licence and Petroleum Concession Agreement were signed by Mr. Ahmad Waqar, Secretary Petroleum and Natural Resources on behalf of the President Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Mr. Naeem Malik, Director General Petroleum Concessions and Mr. Jehangir Saifullah Khan Director and Chief Operating Officer of Saif Energy Ltd. Government of Pakistan honours Chairman, Saif Group with prestigious Civil Award.

On the occasion of the 59th Independence Day of Pakistan, the President General Pervez Musharaf conferred the country’s prestigious “Sitara-e-Imtiaz” award upon Javed Saifullah Khan, Chairman of the Saif Group of Companies for his meritorious services to the people of Pakistan. Javed Saifullah Khan has a rich and diversified experience of over 30 years in Textile, Telecommunication, Cement and IT industries. He is a member of various government and social organizations and has represented Pakistan as an official delegate at international forum. The Presidential citation announced that he remained chairman of All Pakistan Textile Mills Association, Central Managing committee for two years and Chairman of the Zonal Committee for seven years: Member Task Force IT & Telecommunication Advisory Board, Ministry of Science and Technology, Member Task Force (Liberalization & Privatization of Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited, PTCL) Ministry of Science & Technology. At Present, he is Member of the Board of Directors of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation, Member of Board of Directors of Pakistan Mobile communications Ltd (Mobilink), Member of Board of Investment, Govt of Pakistan and Member of PPEPCA.

Government of Pakistan grants Exploration License over Dhermund Block to Saif Energy Limited

The Government of Pakistan granted a petroleum exploration license to Saif Energy Limited over Block 3271-2 (Dhermund) covering an area of 2412.23 square kilometers. Saif Energy Limited is 100 per cent owned by Saif Group. Dhermund Block falls in districts Mianwali, Chakwal and Khushab of Punjab province. A minimum firm investment of $0.9 million and contingent investment of $4 million will be made in the block. During phase-I of the initial term of the license, Saif Energy shall carry out G&G studies, data purchase, processing of vintage seismic data, acquisition and processing of 125 line km 2 D seismic, integration of geological and geophysical evaluation, prospect generation in the first two years and an optional exploration well up to a depth of 2500 meters of Eocene Carbonate objective in the third year. Mr. Amanullah Khan Jadoon, Federal Minister for Petroleum and Natural Resources and Mr. Anwar Saifullah Khan, Co-Chairman Saif Group witnessed the ceremony of the grant of exploration license. The license and the petroleum concession agreement were signed by Mr. Ahmed Nawaz Khan, President & Chief Operating Officer of Saif Energy Limited, Mr. Ahmad Waqar, Secretary Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Resources on behalf of the President of Pakistan, and by Mr. Mohammad Naeem Malik, Director General Petroleum Concessions.

Mr. Ahmad Nawaz Khan (President/COO Saif Energy Limited) and Mr. Gordon Smith (Country Manager Tullow Pakistan Development Limited) signed the Deeds of Assignment for a Joint Venture Partner in Kohat and Bannu West Blocks in the presence of the Chairman and Directors of the company.
